Announcement for Volunteers

Anyone 16 years and older is welcome to take part as a volunteer for this event. As a volunteer, you will receive a T-shirt commemorating your participation and you will have front-row access to some of the greatest racing in the Central Valley!

Exeter Time Trial, Saturday March 17th

All Exeter Time Trial volunteers will report to the Volunteer’s Tent on Rocky Hill Drive, on the east side of Exeter High School.

Racing Crews (2 crews of 17 people per crew): The early shift will report at 7:00 a.m. and work until 12:00 noon. Early reporting is necessary to ensure all volunteers are in place through out the 30K Race Course before racing starts at 8:00 a.m. The second shift will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (includes time to grab lunch before heading out on the course). Course Marshals will be controlling traffic at an assigned intersection with-in the Time Trial Race Course; Starting Line Marshals will assist with staging at the start/finish line.

Marshals will work in 2 person teams, so sign up with a friend. A light breakfast and BBQ lunch will be provided for the morning crews; BBQ lunch for the afternoon crew.

Visalia Criterium, Sunday March 18th

All Criterium volunteers will report to the Volunteer’s Tent in the McMillin Homes parking lot adjacent to the start/finish area at Acequia and Johnson Street.

Set-up Crew (12 - 15 people): This crew will be responsible for erecting fencing, setting up hay bales and barricades and traffic signs, hanging banners, and sweeping off the course to ready the road for racing. Report at 5:00 a.m. and work until approximately 7:30 a.m.. A light breakfast in addition to lunch will be provided.

Racing Crews (2 crews of 17 people per crew): The morning crew will work from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and the afternoon crew will work from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.. These crews include the course marshals (stand at the turns and blow a whistle and wave a flag when the racers are approaching the corner) and several people to man pedestrian crossings and periodically replace trash bags. Marshals will be issued vests and whistles for use during their service time.

Clean-up Crew (2 crews of 17 people per crew): This crew will be responsible for taking down fences, signs, barricades, banners, hay bales, etc. and loading them into trucks and cleaning up the course. Check in at the Volunteer’s Tent at the finish of the last race (approximately 4:30 p.m.) and work for approximately two hours. Lunch will be provided.
