Announcement for Volunteers

March 15th - 16th, 2008

Anyone 16 years and older is welcome to take part as a volunteer for this event. As a volunteer, you will receive a T-shirt commemorating your participation and you will have front-row access to some of the greatest racing in the Central Valley!

Yokohl Ranch Exeter Time Trial, Saturday March 15th

All Exeter Time Trial volunteers will report to the Volunteer’s Tent located in the park under the water tower at Hwy 65 and Rocky Hill Dr.

Racing Crews (1 crew of 20 people)

Volunteers will need to report at 11:30 AM. Prompt reporting is necessary to ensure all volunteers are in place through- out the 40 K Race Course before racing starts at 12:30 PM. Course Marshals will be controlling traffic at an assigned intersection within the Time Trial Race Course; Starting Line Marshals will assist with staging at the start/finish line.

Marshals will work in 2 person teams, so sign up with a friend. A sack lunch will be provided. A barbecue dinner will be served to all volunteers following the completion of the time trial, at approximately 5:00 PM.

Visalia Criterium, Sunday March 16th

All Criterium volunteers will report to the Volunteer’s Tent in the McMillin Homes parking lot adjacent to the start/finish area at Acequia and Johnson Street.

Set-Up Crew (12-15 people)

This crew will be responsible for erecting fencing, setting up barriers, hanging banners, and sweeping off the course to ready the road for racing. Report at 5:00 a.m. and work until approximately 7:30 a.m. A light breakfast in addition to lunch will be provided.

Racing Crews (3 crews of 18 people per crew)

The first crew will work from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, the second crew from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and the third crew from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM. These crews include the course marshals (who will stand at the turns and control pedestrian traffic and respond to any crashes), several people to man pedestrian crossings at the start-finish line, and several people to help maintain the course and help with communications. Marshals will be issued vests and whistles and flags for use during their service time.

Marshals will work in 2 person teams, so sign up with a friend. A light breakfast in addition to lunch will be provided for the first crew; and lunch will be provided for the second and third crews. Water and snacks will be provided for all crews.

Clean-Up Crew (12-15 people)

This crew will be responsible for taking down fences, barricades, banners, etc. and loading them into trucks and cleaning up the course. Check in at the Volunteer’s Tent toward the finish of the last race (approximately 5:00 p.m.) and work for approximately two hours. Lunch will be provided if you check in early.
